What is the correct way to do attestation?

The launch question of the documents programme — answered with the order, once, on one page.

Direct answer

Attestation follows a fixed order: school documents go board, then IBCC, then MOFA; university documents go HEC, then MOFA; translation happens at its own point in the chain, never first; and the Turkish mission step comes last, after everything before it is complete. The order cannot be reshuffled — and the whole chain typically takes six to ten weeks, which is why families start in October.

This page is the focused version of the launch question. The full guide — all six document questions, from timings to translation to the name-match rule — lives in our pillar guide to document attestation for Turkey, and it is worth reading whole. What follows is the order itself, once, and the three rules that save families a month.

The fear this page exists to end: doing the chain in the wrong order and starting again. Wrong order, a month wasted — and it is the most preventable loss in the entire process.

01 · Why the order is fixed

The chain, once

Each office attests only what the office before it has already attested. That is not bureaucracy for its own sake — it is the reason a document that arrives out of order is turned back, and the family starts again. Where you enter the chain depends on what you hold:

What you holdWhere you startThen
School certificates (Matric / Intermediate)Your own boardIBCC → MOFA
University documentsHECMOFA
O/A-Level certificatesIBCC equivalence first (≈ 3–4 weeks typical)then the normal chain, unchanged

Everything converges at MOFA, and the Turkish mission's step comes after that — with every earlier stamp already in place. The full chart, step by step, is the free chart at the bottom of this page; it is the same one the document clinic uses.

02 · The rules that save a month

Three rules, in order of payoff

How long does attestation take?

Typically six to ten weeks in total — IBCC roughly two to three weeks, HEC roughly eight to ten working days, MOFA and translation separate. Typical, not guaranteed — start in October. Every duration is a band, seasonal load moves every one of them, and no step answers to your deadline. The honest plan works backwards from the application window — and the window's dates are not printed anywhere on this site until the call is published.

My name is spelled differently on my CNIC and my certificate

Check name, father's name and date of birth against the CNIC on every document, tonight. If anything differs, correct it through the issuing authority before applying — never alter a document yourself. This is the most common reason a file stalls, and twenty minutes tonight is cheaper than a month in March.

How many attested copies should I make?

Eight to ten, in one visit — universities, the mission, the scholarship file, and the set that stays home. A second visit to the attesting offices is not an errand; with the chain's typical timings, it is weeks.

03 · The desk, free

What the clinic actually checks

Bring your documents — any state, any stage — and we check them against the order and the name-match rule with you, on the spot. The check is free, there is no form, and every step we point to is an official one you could take yourself. We do not quote fees for government steps — they change, and a stale figure reads as dishonesty — and we do not quote prices for translation either.

After enrolment, the Turkish side of the same paperwork — denklik — is a separate chain: Denklik & attestation for Pakistani documents walks it in full. The umbrella guide with all six document questions is Document attestation for Turkey.
